ChangelogNew in Kite, as it ships.

Everything new and improved in Kite, newest first.

Share a preview

Share preview, in Preview, gives a link that opens on that frame. Let anyone with the link see the page's screens one at a time, without sharing the file itself, even when the file is invite only.

Bring your whole team, free

The Free plan now lets you invite as many editors and viewers as you like, so a team can try Kite together. Free holds 3 files; Pro takes away the limit and is billed only for the people who edit.

Also new

  • Settings → Billing shows your plan, your seats and how many files you've used at a glance.
  • One upgrade window for every Free limit, saying what Pro gives you.
  • Someone with view access can now let their agent read the file too.
  • The text styles list shows each style in its own font, with its size and line height, grouped and searchable.
  • The fonts and styles lists open beside the panel, like the font picker, and a brand font shows as its letters and its name.
  • Edit a style straight from the styles list: the button on its row opens it in your design system.
  • Agents set text in your brand's text styles, so a heading drawn by an agent shows as Heading 1, as if you'd set it yourself.
  • The chosen option in the panel's button groups (alignment, resizing, direction) now stands out as a raised tile.

Fixed

  • Files with many pages no longer lose their pictures or crash on phones and tablets.
  • A website's own fonts now show on the board at every zoom, not only on the text you select.
  • A font variable shows the font it stands for, in the Text section and in its list.
  • Big design systems, with hundreds of components and variants, now publish as a library, and placing one of their components stays quick.
  • Long messages in the editor are shown whole instead of being cut off.
  • A library unpublished and published again keeps sending its updates to the files that use it.

Kite for Windows

The Kite desktop app now runs on Windows as well as the Mac, with tabs, split view and agents that work in your open files. It updates itself, and the download page offers the right version for your computer.

Shaders and filters

Fill any layer with a shader: moving colour and light you shape with a few sliders, or start from a preset. Or put a filter over a photo: glass, water, dots, CMYK, VHS, glitch, frost, ASCII and more. Both are in the fill window, and both export as they look.

Pen and vector editing, rebuilt

Editing a path now feels as it does in the tools you know: round points, handles you can bend, a point added on any segment, and undo that steps back one point at a time. It stays smooth on drawings with thousands of points.

Also new

  • The pen snaps to 45° with ⇧ and lands on nearby points and the pixel grid.

Design systems from any website, fonts included

Point Kite at a website and it reads the brand as a visitor sees it: the colours that fill the page, the button that stands out, each section's look and the type for every role. The site's own font files come into your workspace too, so designs look like the real thing.

Also new

  • Start an empty page from your agent, from a Figma file or from a frame size.

Fixed

  • Big Figma files come in whole: pages that fit, and the rest named so you know what was left out.
  • Screens stay sharp while you zoom and pan, even on very large pages.
  • Error screens all look the same and tell you where to go next.
  • Split view in the desktop app works again: drag a file's tab onto the page, or right-click it and choose Open in Split View.

Progressive blur and noise

Two new effects: a blur that fades in across a layer, and fine noise for texture. Both sit in the effects list with shadows and blurs.

Also new

  • Give every page an icon, from 42 in four groups, and add dividers to sort your page list.
  • Edit your own comments, and select and copy the words in any comment.
  • When your agent checks its work, the preview is drawn in your open editor, so it comes back in a moment.

Fixed

  • SVG export keeps strokes, lists and styled words.
  • A layer dragged inside an auto layout frame no longer flickers.
  • Double-clicking a text selects the layer first, as you'd expect.
  • The board stays put when you hide, show or resize the sidebars.

Bigger files that open faster

A file now holds up to 250,000 layers. Big files open straight onto the page you were on while the other pages load behind it, and Kite only warns you when a page is truly full.

Also new

  • Move pages into a file you already have, not only into a new one.
  • A page in the trash frees its room in the file at once.

Fixed

  • Paste up to a full page of layers at once.
  • Editing a file moves it back to the top of Recents.
  • Duplicated files and moved pages keep their fonts.

Kite Pro

Pro is for designing in Kite every day: unlimited files, unlimited agent actions and full version history. Upgrade from Settings → Billing and manage your seats there.

Kite Capture for Chrome

Capture any web page into Kite as layers you can edit: text as text, images as pictures, layout as frames. Click the button in Chrome's toolbar or press ⌥⇧K.

Also new

  • Sign up and sign in in Kite's own look, in light or dark.

Chat with your agent inside Kite

The Mac app's Agent tab is now a full chat with Claude Code or Codex, working in the file you have open. Ask with @ in a comment and the request runs there too.

Also new

  • Videos as layers and as fills: drop in an MP4, WebM or MOV and it plays on the board and in Present.
  • See other people's drags as they happen.
  • The editor follows your light or dark choice.
  • Agents can add a font file to your workspace.
  • Move pages to a new file, choosing which, with how full each file ends up.
  • A font installed only on the author's computer now shows for everyone.

Fixed

  • Files open faster, and frames drag smoothly in heavy files.

Sticky notes and annotations

Leave sticky notes on the board, and annotations that explain a frame or a layer to your team and your agents.

Also new

  • A help center for the whole app, with step-by-step tutorials.
  • Website scans give a design system its look and the skills an agent follows to use it.

Fixed

  • Zoomed out, a screen looks exactly as it does zoomed in: blurs, filters, shadows and colours included.

Pinned comments and live covers

Comments pin to the layer you clicked, or to a spot on the board. File covers in your library show the whole canvas, in the file's own fonts.

Also new

  • Design variables laid out as an editor, on the page and the board.
  • Watch your agent build what it draws, section by section.

Present and split view

Present a frame on its own, full screen, to walk someone through a design. In the Mac app, drag a tab onto the page to open two files side by side.

Learn more

Also new

  • Link to a layer or a comment thread; threads new to you are marked.
  • Lines and arrows can end in an arrow, a circle or a square.
  • Moves and resizes snap to a frame's layout grids.
  • Crop pictures right on the board.
  • File links opened in the browser open in the Mac app.

Kite for Mac

Kite is now a desktop app with tabs, notifications and .kite files, signed and updating itself. Your agents work through it, so they see the files you have open.

Learn more

Also new

  • View and comment on phones and tablets.
  • Publish a file's components as a library and use them across your workspace.
  • Upload your own fonts once and use them in every file.

  • Find and replace, bulleted and numbered lists, and styling on chosen words.
  • Follow someone's cursor from their face.
  • Copy a layer as Tailwind, and export several frames as one PDF.

The design tool your agent works in

Kite is a canvas where you and your agents design side by side. Draw with frames, auto layout, components and the pen; work live with your team; and connect Claude, Codex, Cursor or any agent to design in the same file.
