Account and settings
Your profile, how you sign in, the agents and apps you have connected, and the limits worth knowing, all on one settings page.
Open settings
Any of these opens Settings:
- Click your name at the top of the library's sidebar and choose Settings.
- Press ⌘K in the library and choose Your account or Workspace settings.
- Choose Settings under your workspace in the sidebar, which opens the workspace's part.
The settings sidebar has two groups. Your account holds Profile, Notifications, Sign-in & security, Agents and Integrations: these follow you into every workspace. Under the workspace's name are General and People, which belong to the workspace you are in.
Back to files at the top returns to your library, and so does Esc, unless you are typing in a field or a dialog is open. On a phone, the sections are a row of tabs you scroll sideways.
Profile
Under You, which also counts the files you have made:
- Photo: Upload, Change or Remove. It shows beside files you share. Up to 2 MB.
- Name: what people see on a file you sent. Type it and choose Save, or press Enter.
- Email: where sign-in links and notifications go. It is the email you signed up with and can't be changed here.
- Theme: Light, Dark, or System to follow your computer.
- Open file links in the desktop app: when it's on, a Kite file link you open in this browser goes to Kite for Mac, if it's installed. It applies to this browser only, and signing in to the app turns it on. You won't see it inside the app itself.
Sign-in & security
Under Signing in, any one of these is enough to get in:
- Google: one click, no link to wait for. Choose Connect to add it, or Disconnect to remove it. If Google is your only way in (no password set), it can't be disconnected.
- Emailed link: always on. Kite sends a one-time link to your email.
- Password: optional, for when you'd rather not wait for a link. Choose Set a password, or Change once you have one. It needs at least 8 characters, typed twice. Kite never asks for your old password, because you are already signed in.
Forgot your password
- On the sign-in page, type your email and choose Use a password instead.
- Choose Forgot it?. Kite emails you a link.
- The link signs you in and opens Sign-in & security, where you choose Change to set a new one.
You can always choose Email me a link instead and skip the password altogether.
Agents
Connect an app, in the menu under your name, opens this section. Your agents lists every AI tool signed in to your account, with when it connected and when it was last used. Kite for Mac shows here as Kite Desktop.
- Connect an agent shows the tools Kite works with and the steps for each. See Choose your client.
- Disconnect stops a tool working in your files. It needs to connect again before it can come back. See Revoke access.
Keys for scripts and agents
Most tools sign in on their own and never need a key. For one that can't, choose New key, say what it is for (“Cursor”, say) and choose Create. Copy the key straight away: Kite shows it only once. Make one key per tool, so you can turn each off on its own with Revoke. Each key says when it was last used. See Build an integration for how to use one.
Build with components
Under In your files, Build with components decides whether agents turn a part that repeats across screens, like a nav, into one component you edit once. It is off by default, because agents draw faster without it. This is the setting for every file you haven't set on its own; to change one file, use the agents button at the top of that file. See Components.
Integrations
Figma: Connect Figma lets Kite bring the pictures in layers you paste from Figma, and import whole Figma files. Kite reads only the files you can already open in Figma. Disconnect any time. If you don't connect it here, Kite asks the first time a paste needs it. See Figma.
Notifications and workspace
- Notifications sets how often Kite emails you about comments. See Notifications.
- General (the workspace's name and fonts) and People (invites and roles) are covered in Workspaces and people.
Delete your account
At the foot of Profile, choose Delete account. Kite says how many files go with it, then asks you to confirm with Delete everything. Every file you made, and every link to them, goes with your account, along with your keys and connected agents. This can't be undone.
