Review a design with your team
Invite your team, walk through the frames, collect comments, have your agent make some of the changes, and keep a version to go back to. About ten minutes.
1. Save a version first
A named version marks the design as it was when the review began, so you can compare or go back later.
- In the file, open the file menu (the Kite mark at the top left) and choose Version history.
- Click Save a version at the top of the panel, type a name such as Before review, then click away from the field to save it (or press Enter).
- Click Done to close the panel.
Kite also saves a version by itself every few minutes while the file changes.
2. Bring people in
Teammates who will work with you all the time belong in your workspace, where they see every file. For one review, share just the file.
- Your workspace: in Settings → People, under Invite people to …, enter an email, choose Can edit or Can view, and choose Invite.
- This file: choose Share at the top right, type their emails in Invite by email, pick Can view or Can edit, and choose Invite.
- Anyone with the link, such as a client: in Share, set the menu beside Copy link to Anyone with link can view, then Copy link.
Everyone can comment, including people who can only view. People sent only the link type their name when they comment. Invited people get an email and, in Kite, a line in Activity behind the bell.
3. Preview the frames
- Click the first frame's name above it on the board to select it, then click the ▶ button (Preview) beside Share, at the top right. The frame fills the screen as it will be seen.
- Step through the frames with the arrows at the foot of the screen, Previous frame and Next frame (or press ← and →). They show where you are, such as 2 / 5.
- Click Close preview in the bar at the top (or press Esc) to go back to the board.
On a call, have everyone open the file and click your face at the top right to follow you: their board goes wherever yours does. To stop, they click the × (Stop following) in the pill at the top of their board.
4. Leave comments
- On the toolbar at the bottom of the board, click Comment (the speech bubble), then click the spot on the frame the comment is about.
- Write it and click Send, the arrow in the box. To start a new line, press ⇧Enter.
- To bring a teammate in, type @ and pick them from the list (marked teammate). They get a notification and an email.
- Reply in the thread to discuss it. Add a reaction to agree without a reply.
Comment pins sit on the frames. Choosing the Comment tool in the toolbar also opens the Comments panel on the right, which lists every thread with the page it is on.
5. Ask your agent for a change
Some comments are quick fixes. Hand those to your agent where they were left:
- Reply in the thread, or leave a new comment, with @ and your agent's name: “@Claude do what Sam says here: tighten the spacing in this card”.
- The comment says Waiting for Claude. Tell your agent do my Kite requests. In Kite for Mac it can start by itself as soon as you send.
- It makes the change on that frame and answers in the thread: Done by Claude.
Your agent needs to be connected first: see Your first design with an agent.
6. Resolve threads
- When a comment has been dealt with, open its thread and choose Mark as resolved (the tick).
- Resolved threads leave the board. To see them again, open the Comments panel and choose Show resolved; Reopen brings one back.
7. Go back if you need to
- Open Version history from the file menu again. Your named version is there, among the automatic ones.
- Hover over it and choose Restore, then confirm.
Next
- Comments and Notifications: how comments reach people, and how often.
- Sharing and Workspaces and people: who can see and edit what.
- Preview and history.
